We’re still visiting Vancouver Island in Sunday Editions today and next week!
We’re always on the lookout for “Bob” the harbor seal when we get to the ocean. It’s kind of a rite of passage. If we haven’t seen Bob yet, are we SURE we’re at the ocean??? We saw up to five bobbing seals at a time from our condo’s patio, so we’re pretty sure!

Last Week on Inspy Romance
We took a three-hour whale-watching tour, and we did see two gray whales, but I didn’t get any decent photos to prove it. The waves were very large and often obscured the whale the second their backs broke the surface! But we did see hundreds upon hundreds of sea lions, so there’s that.
On Monday, Emily Dana Botrous considered when a book isn’t just a book.
On Tuesday, Lindi Peterson beckoned us to retreat!
On Wednesday, Meghann Whistler chatted about married love in the movies.
On Thursday, Amy R Anguish invited us on a different kind of road trip.
On Friday, Judith McNees reminisced about the day she met her daughters.
On Saturday, Angela Ruth Strong shared five recent plot twists.
Next Week on Inspy Romance
Monday: Tabitha Bouldin
Tuesday: Emily Conrad
Wednesday: Erin Stevenson Quint
Thursday: Valerie Comer
Friday: Julie Carobini
Saturday: Jan Thompson
A highlight of our whale-watching tour was seeing six sea otters. I think I’ve only seen two or three in the wild before that day, and to see two at a time fairly near our boat was awesome.

Tomorrow is Victoria Day in Canada, which makes this the long weekend that kicks off the summer season. Which isn’t entirely true, since many of our public schools go until the end of June! Still, it’s a significant weekend… this time, my family is all here, so I’ll be checking in and replying to comments as I have a few minutes here and there. Happy Sunday!

How lucky are you guys to have a beautiful long weekend to enjoy the amazing sea life. Love the otters, second only to the little penguins here. So happy you had a wonderful time.

Love the photos I first thought it was an otter. I fell in love with them at the Vancouver Aquarium when they were floating holding paws.
Dianne says
That’s not a bad thing as though they are cute, they are smelly, loud, and very territorial. It’s like hugging a koala seems sweet until you realise they are nocturnal with very sharp claws and like to urinate on those poor humans holding them. Beware the fauna down under!
Valerie Comer says
Sea lions are likewise very stinky and noisy! Not cute at all LOL.
Valerie Comer says
Sea otters are cute! Their faces are furrier than seals, and they have a different profile in the water.
