We caught some very low tides on our April trip to Vancouver Island. One day, we walked for miles on a smooth sandy beach out to a rocky outcrop hoping to spy some starfish, but they evaded us! We didn’t have time to check the next beach north where we’ve seen them on other trips, since we were due for the whale watching trip soon.

I love your pictures!! Your last one reminds me a little of one of the last places we went with Mom for her birthday getaway weekends. We rented a house at St. Mary, near Jacksonville, and it was really close to a marsh.
When I visited my sister in Racine years ago, the biggest difference I noticed immediately was the smell! Or lack of it, since the ocean has its own distinct aroma. But the tides are a huge difference, too. Also, there’s about a zero-percent chance of seeing a whale, LOL.
