Welcome to June! I’ve always been intrigued by the June wedding themes I see in CCR books. I can understand why people in the northern hemisphere want to get married in June. The late spring flowers are blooming, the weather is warm, and the school year has ended. Our equivalent month in the southern hemisphere, December, is a different story. Our school year finishes during December, and sometimes within a week of Christmas and the start of our six week summer break. A few decades ago I was a summer bride (January) in Sydney, Australia. It’s fun celebrating our wedding anniversary during summer. Are you a fan of June (summer) weddings – in CCR books and/or real life?

I think in Australia the equivalent to the June brides is January Brides cos schools are shut and also often factories etc are closed. My brother a teacher married Jan 3. A friend also got Married Jan 5. Quite a few other friends married in Jan.
I did go to a late June wedding several years back and it was chilly. I also think America has more Christmas weddings. (I think I have been to weddings in all months but March and July. Although March I have have been to one. I know a friends sons wedding was the first weekend in March in a Church without A/C and it was a heatwave around 43 or 110F.

Hi Narelle from the Northern Hemisphere. I am a June bride, as was my German Oma (grandmother). We both were married on June 16 – 54 years apart. I am celebrating my 50th anniversary in 12 days. My mom was married in July at the end of the Berlin Airlift in 1948. My oldest son was married end of October. Many summer and fall weddings in the north, since the weather is warmer and usually more predictable. As a teen, I attended a Christmas wedding for my mom’s friend. She joked that at least no decorations were needed, since the church was already decorated. I enjoy reading about weddings any time of the year. Best Wishes.

Hi Jenny, yes, I think January is the closest equivalent being our summer school holidays. It’s definitely the favourite for school teachers, lol. Christmas is also popular for weddings in CCR books. Thanks for commenting. 😊

Hi Renate, Happy 50th Anniversary for June 16! A wonderful milestone to celebrate. Fall and spring are popular here, too, especially the weekends in our school holidays (we have a 4 term school year with 2 week breaks in April, July, and Sept/Oct). Yes, Christmas decorations in the church are helpful for weddings. Thanks for commenting. 😊

I like weddings at any time! My parents were married on June 12 and eight years later I was born on June 13. Mom used to tell me Daddy was upset that she didn’t change my date to the 12th. Mom was induced for all four of us girls (I’m the youngest), so picked the dates we would be born. Mom said everything was set for the 13th, and she didn’t feel right calling and asking to have everything rescheduled. My oldest sister married in December (she took the advantage of having the church already decorated for Christmas), and I can’t remember the months the other two married in. Weddings are nice any time of the year!

I like weddings any time of the year. My parents got married November day after Thanksgiving I think it was November 26th . my oldest brother got married August 2015 in Duluth and it was very hot. My oldest sister got married January 30 2021 so it was cold I don’t remember if it and it was a COVID wedding so only 30 people could be at the church but after the wedding we had a reception at my aunt’s house so whoever wanted could come there. . My younger brother got married October 2019.
I enjoy books with weddings in them.

I think I’m a fan of weddings whatever the time of year! It’s fun to think that a summer wedding for some means June and for others means December) January! I was September, so Autumn from r me but I guess spring elsewhere.

Good morning , yes I think June is a beautiful month to get married on. Our daughter was married in June, she will be celebrating their 19th wedding anniversary in a couple of weeks. I was married in July. Have a beautiful Sunday and a great week.

Thank you so much for sharing. Congratulations to the winners. I was a fall bride. I cannot imagine wearing a wedding gown in the summer. We married in October. God bless you.
Narelle Atkins says
Hi Trudy, That’s a fun June story! My parents got married on my grandfather’s birthday. My mum has said it was the only Saturday that worked, and it was a nice coincidence that it was also her father’s birthday. Thanks for commenting. 😊

Hi Kendra, The pandemic made weddings a complicated exercise. We had snap lockdowns that created chaos by cancelling weddings at the last minute. We’re experiencing a wedding and baby boom this year now that life has returned to normal. I was fortunate to have a January wedding day with perfect 25C weather. It can be 40 degrees and very humid at that time of year here. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Narelle Atkins says
Hi Ruthie, I’m used to everything being the opposite here, lol. September would be a March wedding here. March and April are popular for weddings because we have a 4 day holiday weekend for Easter and also 2 weeks of school holidays. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Narelle Atkins says
Hi Alicia, Happy Anniversary to your daughter, and also for you in July. Thanks for commenting. 😊

Hi Debra, A summer wedding is not ideal in many places. Years ago, I went to a family wedding in Queensland in late October, and the weather was terribly hot and humid. The reception venue wasn’t air conditioned, which didn’t help. Thanks for commenting. 😊

I love June weddings, enough to get married on June 8th! 😆 Then 8 years later our daughter was born on June 4th ❤️
Dianne says
Not a fan, way too hot! Autumn definitely. My sister chose to be a January bride and the weather hit 45 degrees celsius in a church with no air conditioning, it was tough on everyone – thank goodness only they celebrate their anniversary. Funnily enough when anyone queried her about the potential given so many heatwaves in January there, she stood in God creating a mild day, but clearly thought they could handle a much hotter day.
Narelle Atkins says
Yes, there is!

Happy Anniversary! A fun and busy week of celebrating in your family! Thanks for commenting. 😊

Hi Dianne, A January heatwave was definitely one of my concerns! I remember checking the long range forecast. The coastal temps in Sydney with the nor’easter sea breeze tend to be cooler than inland. We honeymooned in Queensland and it was scorching hot there, lol.
I’m glad you all survived the heatwave. When I was pregnant with my daughter and we were living in Melbourne, a neighbour’s daughter got married on the Australia Day long weekend. The Saturday afternoon temp hit 44.5C and at the same time there was a power outage for 3 or 4 hours and therefore no air con. They really struggled with the extreme heat and the major inconvenience of no power. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Dianne says
Sounds rough, just like my sister’s churb where there was no air conditioning. Uggh!
