Happy Sunday! I love spring, and the beautiful spring flowers in my garden. The native Australian bottlebrush (see below) are one of my favorites because they’re hardy, easy to grow, and attract native birds like honeyeaters to our yard. Speaking of birds, I’m thankful the magpies have stopped swooping now their babies are out of the nest and exploring the world.

The bottlebrush are gorgeous and so diverse, there are even
golden ones. The beautiful viburnum are blossoming and the amazing purple jacaranda blossoms are out. I discovered I live in the most Instagramable street in Australia this week. Our street has a canopy of jacaranda all along the edge of Milson Park and the tourists come in droves for photos, videos and even a couple of weddings literally in the middle of the street (seriously, I didn’t believe it until I saw it). It is gorgeous and now that the street is blocked off to traffic how amazing to consecrate your vows under the splendour of God’s gorgeous creation. Happy Spring/Autumn/Fall everyone!

Thank you for sharing your bottlebrush. I had actually looked up bottlebrush for a translation last week – needed for a kindergarten crafts project to make little lanterns, where “bottlebrushes” or rather glitter pipe cleaners/chenille wire was needed for the legs and feelers. LOL.

Those bottlebrush are lovely, I have never seen them before.
It’s always nice to think when things are grey, rainy and getting chilly here that there are flowers and sunshine in other parts of the world.
A happy Sunday to you all.
Trudy says
I LOVE your purple jacaranda!! The bottlebrush is pretty! I have two fiddlewood plants that butterflies like, and a firebush, too.

I have a bottle brush in my front yard. The wattle birds love it and they use it to divebomb Libby. They also attack the Magpies.

Thank you so much. Congratulations to the other winners this week. Thank you for sharing your Spring pictures. God bless you all.

Hi Dianne, They are beautiful, and I’m not surprised you have tourists visiting for jacaranda pics. Happy wedding season in your neighbourhood! I’m glad you have the benefit of less traffic. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Narelle Atkins says
Hi Anke, That sounds like a fun kindergarten craft project, and less messy than using a real bottlebrush, lol. Thanks for commenting. 😊

Hi Ruthie, The bottlebrush plants are pretty. There’s plenty of flowers and bright colour and sunshine here. Sadly, the bushfire season has also started (not near me) with hot temps and high winds further north that are creating issues. We’re expecting a warm 27C tomorrow & then we go back to 18C and a bit of rain later in the week. October can never decide whether it wants to be warm or cool, lol. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Narelle Atkins says
Hi Trudy, The flowers are pretty. If our cat is having supervised outdoor time (she needs close supervision to stop her eating plants that make her sick) we also spend time ‘rescuing’ the butterflies that she likes to chase around our yard. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Narelle Atkins says
Hi Jenny, I’m sorry to hear your wattlebirds are aggressive. It’s the magpies and plovers (which thankfully aren’t near us) that create the dive bombing problems here. The crows like stealing fluorescent golf balls (mid-air) and relocating them to places unknown. Thanks for commenting. :)

Hi Debra, You’re very welcome. Thanks for commenting. 😊
