We’ve been chatting about thankfulness this month, and today’s focus is the biggest reason of all. I’m so thankful that God sent His only Son into this world to redeem all who believe in Him. Can I get an amen? Thank You, thank You, Jesus, for all You’ve done for me. And someday (maybe soon!) You’ll come again in the clouds and take us to live with You forever.
So it seemed fitting to share “sky” photos today! And the most dramatic ones I’ve taken lately are from an aurora borealis show we witnessed from our side yard on September 18th! I belong to a British Columbia aurora group on Facebook, and without them, I might not have headed outside at the right time to have a better look. Photos in the group from further north were absolutely breathtaking as many were able to capture dancing and swirling lights.
Ours were less dramatic, the flow of the aurora gentle and slow. I’ve seen them dancing wild at other times when we lived further north, but this is the best we’ve seen in years. So special to see the Creator’s hand showcasing this art form!
Winners this Week
If you’re a winner, you should have received an email from the author in charge of the giveaway. If not, please email us at: prizes at inspyromance dot com.
Judith McNees’s winners are Ruthie H, Trudy, Dianne K, Debra Pruss, and Jessica B!
Amy R Anguish’s winner is Diana Hardt!
Congratulations!
Here’s a tip I learned in September about photographing aurora: don’t wait until it looks dramatic. Start shooting before that, because the camera lens can pick up the red tones your eye can’t see in the low light. The reds were barely visible with the naked eye, so we just kept shooting photos with our phones and then looking at them and saying, “oh, so THAT’s what it really looks like!”

I love the photos. Its on my bucket list to see an aroura. (I know we have the aroura Australis which I still haven’t seen).
Blessing this Sunday Valerie! I was blessed to see the aurora borealis show for 3 nights in July 1970 while cruising Lake Winnipeg (Manitoba, Canada). In an era before cell phones, I don’t have any pictures. I know photographers often capture the aroura over the Mackinaw Bridge (Michigan). God is good and paints splendid pictures in nature. Best wishes.
I saw the aurora borealis when we were stationed in Alaska in 1962.
I love the photos!! I’ve seen some pictures posted from Alaska with the aurora borealis, and they are breathtaking!!!! How wonderful that you got to see this from your yard!!!
Amazing pictures, how wonderful that you could watch that from your home.
A happy Sunday to you all.
It’s definitely worth seeing!
I wonder if I saw some of the same ones in 1970 in that area? The last few years we lived in Manitoba I recall seeing them numerous times, and we left in 1973! It’s fun to think that might have been a shared experience!
The far north gets to see them much oftener than I do, close to the 49th parallel!
The further north one goes, the greater the likelihood of seeing them. We are outside the window of it being “often” but far enough north that if we’re paying attention, it’s always a possibility!
Yes, we are blessed. Have a great Sunday and week to come, too!
Good afternoon, Wow, what Beautiful photos, Thank you so much for sharing them! God gives us Beautiful scenes for us to see! May you and your family have a Great Sunday and a Very Blessed week.
Thank you, and praying the same for you!
Thank you for sharing such fabulous pictures. We are not blessed to be able to see them where we live. I am so thrilled to be a winner this week. Congratulations to the other winners. God bless you all.
Congrats! I hope you enjoy your prize!
Fantastic photos – you are blessed to be able to be at home and see them. The sky is one of God’s most amazing creations, brilliant in it’s beauty and amazing as a backdrop too. Thanks.
It is SUCH an amazing backdrop!!! I’m glad you enjoyed the photos.
