This week of Advent, we are focused on Joy!
I have always loved Joy to the World – but have you heard Chris Tomlin’s version? I love (mostly) how he takes hymns and modernizes them a bit, adding some upbeat choruses and so forth while still keeping the beautiful depth of the original hymn intact.
You can listen to his version of Joy to the World here.

Joy to the World was one of mum’s favourite carols. We use to sing it when we went caroling and the book had another verse in it that I didn’t like cos I wasn’t use to it but ironically we rarely sing it but I know really like the verse as it really does fit.

What a sweet memory ❤️

I hadn’t heard that version of Joy to the World before, it’s lovely.
Wishing everyone joy this week as we move towards celebrating our Saviour’s birth.

Thank you Elizabeth, I’ve been struggling with some of the modern music and this time of year the perversion of Ho, Ho, Ho from Christmas past. You’ve shown me that the younger generation’s music can be worshipful of the Lord it’s just a matter of being alert to the possibilities. Have a joyful week everyone!
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Oh I’m so glad I could share it with you!

❤️ I have the same struggle to be honest, so I am always on the lookout for more modern music that has depth.

I like some of the modern versions, but tend to go to my favorites! First time I’ve heard this one, and it’s good!! Thanks for sharing! I like Crowder’s music, and have found a new favorite with Crowder and Ricky Skaggs doing Go Tell it on the Mountain.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Oh I love Crowder!
