So last week, I mentioned I was in Illinois on a writer retreat! YAY! Jessica Keller (who writes YA under Jess Evander) and I met up for 72 hours of fabulous writer fun! We both wrote A LOT (which was kind of the whole point), plus we got to hang out (also the point), and make fun of the Royal Wedding commentators (but, since they were speaking Swedish, which neither of us speak so…). The wedding itself and the festivities following were quite fun to watch (despite the language barrier) and I think can still be streamed in their entirety.
We also took a short trip to see the world’s largest catsup bottle (way disappointing), the downtown of a cute little town (more pics to come in future weeks), and discovered some of the world’s best barbecue! I told you last week I was working on a new novella (later this summer, it’s going to be a freebie for those subscribed to my newsletter!) and I didn’t quite get it done but close. I think I have one, maybe two, scenes left to write (but I’ve only written like two more since I got back…swim meet weeks and Jurassic World with the 13yo and a friend will do that). Then it’s back to work on Hand-Me-Down Princess (special announcement about that one coming on my newsletter in the next day or two). All in all, it was a good (and productive!) weekend and I hope we get to do it again sometime soon! What about you? Have you had a good week? I’m still working on getting the time sheets and ribbons together for yesterday’s swim meet. One kiddo was sick, but the other three all earned multiple ribbons and did their best which is all we can ask (and the 7yo got his hair completely wet! Last year he could do a whole 25 meter freestyle and still have dry hair!).
Also this week, a bunch of us are doing a Facebook Party!! June 23 is the release date for the SPLASH! BOX SET! Be sure to join us from 5-7PM Eastern!

Happy Sunday, Carol! Seems as if you and Jessica had a whirlwind 72 hour visit! Writing, visiting local attractions and watching the royal wedding :-) And I think the world’s largest bottle of ketchup would be very interesting to see. I did notice too, that it’s spelled different….or maybe I’ve lived in the Northwest so long I just spell it the way I do now! I grew up in Illinois so I guess it spelled catsup….I didn’t realize that…haha!
Congrats to the winners of the Amazon gift card and Deb and Elizabeth’s books! It was another great week of blogs by each author…

Hi Trixie! The Catsup bottle was very disappointing :(. And I think it’s kind of like spelling something with a z instead of an s or something. Catsup being a colloquial spelling maybe which makes it more brand-able? I’m not sure. It was a whirlwind but I hadn’t seen Jess in nearly two years so it was a fabulous whirlwind!!!! YAY!
