Most of Inspy Romance’s author and readers celebrated their nations’ birthdays this week. Yep, that apostrophe is in the right place! Canadians celebrated Canada Day on July 1, and Americans celebrated Independence Day yesterday, July 4.

But we have authors and readers from other countries, too! Marion Ueckermann lives in South Africa, where Freedom Day is celebrated April 27. Narelle Atkins and her fellow Aussies celebrate Australia Day on January 26. Autumn Macarthur may be confused, as she’s Australian by birth but now lives in England, where St. George’s Day (England’s National Day) is celebrated on April 23.

Whether your national holiday was this week or six months ago, how do you, your family, and your community celebrate?

In British Columbia, Canada, we had an extremely dry winter and spring, making the forest fire danger severe. Fireworks in my community were canceled as a result, but the town still had many of the usual offerings: a pancake breakfast, face painting, kiddie rides, a free swim at the indoor pool, a celebratory cake, and a concert in the park.

I celebrated Canada Day in the pages of Sweet Serenade (Riverbend Romance 3, which first released in the Splash! box set), as Carly and Reed attended the events in Riverbend, fireworks included.
