Hey, all! How’s your week been? It has been a pretty good one here! I went back to work this week – I get paid to talk to grown-ups!! I teach American Government at a local community college, and we had our first classes this week. I also edited Hand-Me-Down Princess again this week. It comes out next Sunday – eek!
Is it heating up where you are? I grew up in Phoenix and still have lots of friends there. I see their updates and Do. Not. Miss. those days! It’s actually been pretty gorgeous here this week! We even had highs in the 60s one day! Plus several days of rain. I hope all those people near all the wildfires get some of it, too. I know they need it far worse than we do!
In fact, we haven’t even been to the pool in a couple weeks!

Hey Carol, good luck with the start of school! I’m back tomorrow. Mixed feelings for sure!
Thanks so much for handling the Sunday Edition every week, Carol. You are much appreciated.
That’s cool that you teach college! I live in Oregon and there are SO many wildfires! It was so smoky yesterday we couldn’t go outside and it looks like today will be the same. I’ve been praying for rain.
I live on the Oregon coast well away from the fires, but it’s still a very scary situation! We desperately need the rain, just haven’t had our usual amount. Been on the coast for almost 17 years & I have to say this is the driest & warmest I’ve ever seen it!! I pray everyday for our firefighters and their families. I also found out that 3 firefighters in Washington lost their lives in recent days. My heart goes out to their families and co-workers.
I can’t wait for “Hand Me Down Princess” to release & sure did enjoy the mini-excerpt on the blog the other day. Looking forward to it :-) Blessings to you and yours, Carol as you begin teaching again and as the kids go back to school!
Kimberly, where in Oregon do you live?? i hope not in the midst of all those fires….so scary!! I live on the coast myself and have been praying everyday for the firefighters and their families for safety! We sure do need the rain don’t we??
Praying for the firefighters and all whose homes are near the fires. I grew up in Australia and I know well how scary and dangerous wildfire can be. Our home almost burned one year.
Trixi, I’m in the Willamette Valley. We don’t have any fires causing us danger. The smoke was blown in from all the fires in Oregon and Washington. I suppose it’s the nature of living in a valley.
We thought about trying to escape the smoke by going to the coast today, but the smoke map said it was there too, so we stayed home.
I live in Western Washington. We have been free of wildfires, but I am very saddened by our Eastern WA neighbors and their losses of life and land. As a life-long Washingtonian, I’m not sure I ever remember praying for rain as much as we are now.
