Hey everyone out there in InpsyRomance land! How’s your week been? Not too bad here. Today (Saturday), my 10yo rode in her first horse show. I got a new cell phone. I also sat on a large sweet tea, but that’s a story for a different time ;). I’m also gearing up for a road trip! YAY! Wednesday morning, I leave for the American Christian Fiction Writers’ Conference at DFW in Dallas! Five days with hundreds of other people who understand the voices in my head don’t mean I’m crazy! ;) A bunch of the IR ladies will be there! I’ll be sharing pics next week (and in my regular post the week after).
Of course, I spent a large portion of the week, and especially Friday, remembering September 11…I’ve always watched as many of the specials as I can (and have a whole bunch saved on the DVR). It fascinates me. The everyday heroes. The stories of the firefighters and police officers, etc., too of course, but also the random strangers who helped others. It never fails to overwhelm me when I think it through and all the things happening to these people are happening at the same time as the things happening to those people in that other special, etc. And just HOW much happened in so many different places in such a short time span.
It’s a tough line to walk with my kids. I want them to know and to remember, though my oldest was still a month from being born. We focus on those heroes. With my older kids we talk about the whys and wherefores and more details, but with my younger kids, we focus on the survivors and the happy ending stories (though they know about the others, too). What balance do you strike with the younger kids in your lives?
Anyway, I didn’t mean to get so melancholy…especially when we have a big event coming up here! Our fall giveaway is starting!
Check out the pics in this post (and the Coming Up section) for more information!
I really do check the comments on Sunday’s post. THANK YOU to all of you who comment! I’m making a more concerted effort to see them before, say, Saturday ;), and reply!

Wow! All the giveaways look great – Perfect for cozying up with a good book on a cool autumn evening. I wish you safe travels and lots of fun on your ‘road trip’. I recently returned from a mini-vacation. I finally had the chance to rest and really dig into some good books by Merrillee Whren, Katie Clark, and…yes, I am reading your book, Good Enough For A Princess!

So how did your children define ‘heroes’ and ‘survivors’? It’s always interesting to hear a childs’ perspective!

Happy Sunday, Carole!! Although by the time I see this, it’s now Wednesday ;-) My week’s been a bit, shall we say, busy??
It’s great to see that the Fall giveaway is starting! I really can’t believe it’s almost that time of year again. Seems like time flies by faster each year. Is that what happens as we get older….if so, I’m so NOT for it! Last night, I had my first cup of hot Vanilla Chai tea, that REALLY tells me that the season is changing!
I bet you will have lots of fun at your conference! I know a lot of authors are posting on Facebook about this & they are posting some pictures too. Isn’t it so nice to get together with some like-minded writers & do a bit of brain storming? All your characters get to talk and nobody thinks it’s weird…lol! Have a blessed fun time :-)
Oh, and I just noticed I was one of the winners for “The Little Black Wedding Dress”, I so look forward to that one! I’ll be emailing after I get done catching up to my posts for the week. Thanks so much for all you ladies do, always a pleasure reading and commenting to each days post!
