Hi everyone!
I took a road trip with a friend yesterday.
We spent roughly six-and-a-half hours in a vehicle together.
What happens when you put two opinionated women in a closed environment for that long?
It can only go one of two ways, right? Good or, well…not good.
We talked about everything from politics, divorce, cohabitation, homosexuality, and drugs to teen pregnancy, the modern American church, traffic, and the end times. And probably a hundred other things that I’m forgetting at the moment.
And we’re still on speaking terms. How awesome is that?
Do you have a friend or family member with whom you can discuss anything and everything? What happens when you disagree on a particular topic?
Wishing you a fabulous day today!
~Heather

It sounds like you had a fun road trip, Heather. I’m not a fan of discussing politics with friends and family…and I certainly stay clear of the subject on Facebook. :)

I love that phrase – sister in love. I’m totally stealing that, just so you know! ^_^

Thanks for stopping by today Melissa!

I usually avoid discussing politics, too, but when you’re in a vehicle with someone for hours on end, it’s eventually going to come up – especially during an election year. ;) I probably would have changed the subject right away if I’d thought we would come to blows over it. Luckily I was with the kind of friend that, even had we not agreed, I think we’d have enjoyed a lively debate on the subject. As it is, we more or less agreed…which actually kind of made for a boring political discussion. ^_^
Heather Gray says
Thanks so much for stopping by today Nancy!!

I have a best friend, who sadly lives in an entirely different state than me, but we still talk often through texting and phone calls and we can talk about anything! I know she’ll listen and she knows I’ll listen to her. We have very similar views on things so we have very rarely disagreed on anything, but when we have, we listen to each other and if we can’t get to a place of agreement, we agree to disagree. It’s a blessing to have her!

I’m so behind on the blog posts this week!! Ah well, I’ll just start anew :-)
Congrats to all the winners on the Anniversary giveaways, such nice prizes! Thanks to all the authors who have generously given books and other prizes away :-) You’re awesome!
Heather, about the only person I can debate anything with, is my husband. Even we don’t agree on everything, we just agree to disagree. We still love each other no matter what. And in the most important things, we do agree and that’s a good thing. Glad you had a great road trip & some good conversations!
Renate says
Congrats to all the winners. In the sandwich years, it is difficult to meet with close friends who live in our cities or states to be near family. Now in retirement and since my dad passed in 2014, we are making connects from our past.
Heather Gray says
Those are the best kinds of friends to have! Even when you live far apart, it’s still good to have someone that you can chat with and simply be yourself. I’m glad you have her!
Heather Gray says
Ha! My husband and I don’t agree on everything either. (Politics, for example…) But we love each other regardless, so it all works out, right? (Although I do now avoid political discussions with him. We’re definitely at loggerheads w/ the current election. Maybe by next March…) ;)
Heather Gray says
I’ve never heard that phrase before – the sandwich years – I love it! Our lives go through different seasons, and what we can and can’t do are often defined by those seasons. When you’re a mom of preschoolers, what you can do socially is entirely different than when you’re the parent of a teenager. And what you can do then is different than what you can do once the kids are all done with school and college and everything else. Our interests, change, too, as we go through those different seasons. Life is always changing, and a new adventure is always right around the corner. (My next adventure is probably going to be paying for college, so I’m stocking up on anti-nausea medication.) ^_^
