You know how you forget to write the new year when you write a check and stuff all January?
Yeah.
I almost wrote 2001 in the title of the blog today (okay – I did; then deleted it…)
I’ve done well with remembering when writing checks and stuff this year though!! :D
How’s your week been? We’ve had a wimpy ice storm (bad enough in areas in our school district that I was glad there was no school – but our house was pretty pathetic as ice storms go). We had our last Christmas today (Saturday) with one set of in-laws that I haven’t seen in far too long – or at least not for long enough when we saw them. I missed last Christmas and I got to talk to my step-mother-in-law for a couple hours (off and on) today, plus see my great-nephew and one of my nieces (and nephew-in-law) and nephew – along with their parents of course!
We had fun but headed home earlier than usual because of another (but likely still wimpy at my house) ice storm warning… :p And I just started a fire because I’m cold (after 74 degrees for our high on Wednesday…) – it’s not as pretty as the one in the pic… yet ;).
Just as well in some ways – I have a book I’m hoping to finish drafting tonight or tomorrow ;).
So… around here…

Sounds lovely, catching up with family. An ice storm sounds a bit scary- I have never been through one.
We spent the day riding along Merri Creek with some friends. We did not ride very far, only 19km in total, but it was warm, sunny, blue skies- and so lovely to catch up with great friends who live on the other side of the city. We are back to school this week- planning for the year ahead so lots of meetings!

Hi Carol. Weather wise this year this year in SW Michigan has been unusually warm with rain, which melted the little snow we received this winter. Our local photographer Joshua Nowicki captured amazing images of sand and ice formations on Lake Michigan that we can enjoy from the comfort of our homes. He posts God’s delights on his website and Facebook page.
I am not fond of ice storms in the midwest because it makes travel dangerous and I enjoy having the comforts of electricity. Thursday morning taking granddaughter to preschool, even though the air was warm the ground is frozen, the parking lot was covered in black ice. After falling last April and broking my wrist, I felt like a 90 year old walking across the parking lot. Fortunately my sweet observant 3 year old granddaughter took it slow. “It’s slippery Oma.”
I have not had much difficultly remembering to write 2017. We have been blessed as we celebrated January birthdays and on January 11th welcomed the birth of our newest granddaughter. God is good. Blessings to all.

We just finished having our house painted and kitchen re-done . We still have the basement to do ourselves. It is a huge relief to move back into bathrooms and hang clothes, instead of using a suitcase that we kept in the basement. We too had a wimpy ice storm. I was glad it was just wet. Although I would enjoy snow!
