Well hello, June.
The year is half over.
Amazing.
This pic is from SEVERAL years ago. The young man in the forefront, struggling with the sand – he’s twenty now. The young lady on the far left is married. The one in the green swimsuit got married yesterday. The boy on the far right will be getting his learner’s permit this month. (Not all of them are my children. :) )
Time flies.
One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today. — Dale Carnegie
What have you done this year? For Jesus? For others? For yourself?
What have you done WITH Jesus? With others? (With yourself sounds ridiculous, lol.)
I read a book at the end of last summer entitled The Story of With, by Allen Arnold. It’s not romance, at least not in fleshly terms. It’s about doing life WITH God. I encouraged my husband to read it. Ever since, he’s been more intentional about having a relationship WITH God versus doing things FOR God.
I’ve been doing this as well, focusing more on BEING in relationship (with God and with others) rather than doing.
As an older woman (ugh, I hate writing that), I implore you younger ladies to love on your husbands — don’t neglect them as you care for your children — and “stop and smell the roses.” Take time to enjoy the things around you: the laughter of your child(ren), the antics of your pets, time spent with loved ones playing a game, reading a book, or just snuggling. Those times are precious. And fleeting.
Oh, well, this has turned into a sermon… Back to your regularly scheduled Sunday Edition…
Many blessings,
Ginger

Hi Ginger, thanks for sharing your photo- wow, time does go fast! You are so right, taking time out of busy lives to just live, savour and enjoy. My job, like many other jobs, feels like there are no edges on the day- when work begins/ends, as there is always, always work that can be done- preparation, marking, paperwork, professional learning…. It can be a struggle to stop! and not feel guilty for stopping!
Hubby and I got new bikes, so we all went mountain biking today, it was COLD, but the sun was out and it was awesome. The boys enjoyed learning new skills and challenging mummy to try some jumps off logs, all in all, great family time to savour:)
Blessings:)
PS, looking forward to your next story!

You are right, time flies. Kids grow and get married. Grand kids come along. We’re enjoying being close to our kids and grand kids. Its important to enjoy your spouse and appreciate their efforts even if it’s different from how you would do something. God bless!

Yes, we need to take time for our families and not be rushing around ” doing” so many things. Savor those at home times just being together, doing enjoyable things as a family. Time passes too quickly. It will soon be time to enjoy your grandkids! Thanks for the post.

A family bike ride sounds lovely, Wemble, even if the weather was cold. Jumping off logs — well, that’s just impressive.
I’m looking forward to my next story, too. I wish, sometimes, that writing were easier. But then, if it were, everyone would do it. :D

Great reminders Ginger! We do need to love our husbands, treasure our children (and in my case, grand-child), have a more purposeful relationship with the Lord.
And I can’t believe my son is 20 and almost finished with his first year in community college. My daughter 25 and my granddaughter turned 3 in March, and we just celebrated 20 years of marriage….I wonder where all the years went to. Yes, you must treasure every moment because life is precious! :-)
Happy SONday everyone!! Looking forward to another great week.

Thanks, Trixi. The years do seem to fly and faster as I get older. Be blessed.
