My final book with the Heartsong Presents line released this month. This book was a blast to write. On Valentine’s Day last year I sat at my computer scrolling through my friend’s Facebook posts about what their sweetheart had done for them and thought to myself how much I didn’t like that day. But then I thought to myself what if.
What if I wrote a story about a woman who had the same feelings as I do about the holiday? But she couldn’t be just any woman, she had to have a stake in the day, and Kayla the florist shop owner was born. To make things even more difficult for her, I gave her a business partner who adores the day. But, I didn’t want Kayla to be disliked, so I gave her the heart of a romantic. She wants all the people who walk through the doors of their shop to feel the love through their flowers.
Then I had to come up with a hero. Of course he couldn’t be just any hero. I used to spend a lot of time at the mall and I recalled on more than one occasion the female store employees, let’s say, admiring, the UPS man that delivered to the mall. But a problem arose when my critique group didn’t think that occupation was hero worthy, so he became a famous musician hiding out in Oak Knoll, Oregon, as a UPS delivery person.
What followed was a series of fun and sometimes frightening events, with a happily-ever-after ending.
Here is the back cover copy for A Valentine for Kayla.
KAYLA RUSSELL DOESN’T LIKE VALENTINE’S DAY
What should be Kayla’s favorite holiday is just another reminder that she hasn’t met someone special. The beautiful florist—and hopeless romantic—has nearly given up on love, when the man of her dreams walks into her shop…to buy flowers for another woman!
Former music superstar Derek Wood poses as a local deliveryman while he cares for his ailing mother. Derek is drawn to Kayla’s genuine spirit and natural beauty, but he can’t hide his identity forever. The man Kayla’s falling for doesn’t really exist, but the feelings they share are real. Will Derek finally give Kayla a reason to love Valentine’s Day?
I’ll be back next month to share with you about an exciting new series I am currently writing. Book one, Island Refuge in my Wildflower B&B Romance Series releases April 15th and is available for Pre-order on Amazon now. http://amzn.to/1FdP059

How fun, Kimberly! (Though I have to say, a UPS man is perfectly hero-worthy on his own merits – have you seen the packages they have to tote around? :) )

Love how the UPS guy is actually a famous musician. That should make for a very interesting book. I will be ordering the Kindle version.

A florist shop owner who doesn’t like Valentine’s day & a UPS driver who’s actually a famous musician, sounds like an intriguing storyline! I love how authors come up with some unique stories & throw in some even more unique heros & heroines. Makes for a great read in my book (no pun intended).
Just for the record, I have known some hunky UPS drivers in my day…absolutely swoon worthy…haha!
