Oh, my! What a lot of weddings! Wishes on Wildflowers released a week or two ago. It’s the fourth book in my Urban Farm Fresh Romance series, and suddenly it was time for ALL THREE of the other weddings to actually happen!
I’d done some chronological overlapping, with Secrets of Sunbeams (Eden and Jacob’s story — you all remember Pansy the goat, right?) starting in late June and ending in October. Butterflies on Breezes (Linnea and Logan’s story — butterflies instead of goats!) started that same July and ended in December. Not one to leave well enough alone, Memories of Mist (Adriana and Myles’s story — I settled for a large dog instead…) starts that same late August and ends in April.
It was time for a break! So Wishes on Wildflowers starts in February and runs through July of the following year. It still does a little overlapping with Memories of Mist that way, but not to the same challenging point that the first two books had, since the two guys were housemates. You may not be QUITE as relieved as I am that the next book, Flavors of Forever, will start after the end of Wishes on Wildflowers…
But I digress. Weddings. Romance readers love to read the weddings of previous characters, but that can be a bit challenging for the author. It’s our job to make sure the wedding isn’t in there as a freebie, but that it actually matters to the heroine and hero of the current book and affects their relationship in some tangible way.
Challenge accepted.
And because Rob Santoro from Other Than a Halo is Jasmine’s cousin and plays a role in Wishes on Wildflowers — oh, and Alaina from Rooted in Love (Arcadia Valley Romance) is Adriana’s sister, I added them into the equation.
Not the book. Just the quiz. WHEW. And then I felt badly leaving out Evelyn and Ben (Sprouts of Love — Arcadia Valley Romance) and Joanna and Grady (Sow in Love — Romance Grows in Arcadia Valley), so what the heck, right? If I was going to write THE WEDDING QUIZ it might as well cover all seven of those couples. Done.

That was a fun quiz. Evelyn + Ben for me.
Hi Valerie, how fun:) Evelyn and Ben for me:) I LOVE the connections between books/characters, it makes it seem like a big family. Thanks:)
Blessings:)
PS, Autumn has arrived- we are picking LOADS of tomatoes, raspberries, strawberries, cucumbers, zucchinis, eggplant, beans and fresh herbs and preparing them to use through winter- I feel like I need to visit Jo, Sierra and the gang!!
What a fun quiz! It was Grady and Joanna for me!
Adriana & Myles for me!
Joanna & Grady
Hi Valerie! A fun quiz with all the different elements of a wedding. I plan to take the quiz several times. My first result was Adriana and Myles from Memories of Mist. Not surprising since I had just reread the book and participated in the book discussion on Facebook (Valerie Comer: Readers Group). I answered the questions as if I was planning my wedding today – a blend of traditional and contemporary. Next time I take the quiz I plan to answer the questions based on my summer wedding in 1973. Thanks for taking the time to create this fun interactive quiz. No need to include for a book. I have read every single one in all your series. Best wishes. Stay warm and healthy. Looking forward to spring.
Hi Wemble! After winter returned this week, how I wish you could send some of your scrumptious fruits and vegetables. Thanks for sharing. Gives us more northerners hope that summer will come. Best wishes. Enjoy your weekend.
What a fun quiz! I got Alaina and Cameron which is funny because I’ve never read their story. I guess this means I need to!
What fun! I got Adriana + Myles! I can’t imagine how you coordinated all of these stories together! What a challenge!
I enjoyed the quiz! I got Evelyn and Ben – I’ll definitely have to read that book as well!
Joanna and Grady for me.
Adriana and Myles for me. I’ve read most of your books. Thanks for writing!
Fun quiz! I just kind of answered off the top of my head, and ended up with Adriana & Myles. I think I’ll do like Renate and take it again :-) Don’t need to enter me in the giveaway as I’ve already got all of the books involved.
How fun, Valerie! My results were Joanna + Grady
Evelyn and Ben… if anyone needed a happy ending, those two did! Thanks for playing along!
So glad you enjoy the connections between the books/series! It makes it more fun for me, too. More complicated… but more fun! I would not only like to revisit Green Acres Farm, I’d like a fraction of their energy! Hope I have some when the snow finally melts and it’s planting time around here. :)
Thanks for playing along!
Oh, I had fun with Grady! His mother is such a pill, and she’s back in Grady’s sister’s story that I’m writing now (Harvest of Love). Thanks for playing along!
Oh, such a headstrong couple! Loved working with them. Thanks for playing along!
Love them, and hope you did, too! Thanks for playing along!
Yes, I took it a few times, too, with my former self, my mother-of-the-bride self, and my current self. I had to see if it worked, after all! ;) Thanks for playing along, and thanks for being an active member in my FB reader group.
I’m certain that’s what it means, LOL! Thanks for playing along!
Short answer: spreadsheets and meticulous notes. Oh, and a lot of rereading.T hanks for playing along!
Definitely a pair who needed a happy ending. Hope you enjoy it! Thanks for playing along!
Oh, they’re a fun couple! Thanks for playing along!
Thank YOU, Diana. Thanks for playing along!
Like I mentioned to Renate, I took it a few different ways for fun, too! Thanks so much for being a loyal reader. Thanks for playing along!
I hope you enjoyed it! And thanks for playing along!
What a fun quiz! Joanna & Grady for me .
I’m glad you had fun! Thanks for playing along.
Renate, I also had a summer wedding in 1973. June 9th to be exact. Hard to believe we are coming up on our 45th wedding anniversary. Happy early 45th anniversary to you and your husband.
Valerie, what a fun quiz. I took it based on my wedding 45 years ago. I came up with Alaina & Cameron. I should take it again and see how it changes!
My views now would have me matched with Adriana and Myles. We attended my great niece’s wedding last summer which was held outdoors and lake side. I loved that wedding. Then her brother, my great nephew, got married a month later in a formal church wedding. I much preferred the outdoor lakeside wedding versus the indoor church wedding. My great niece had what is called a tiered naked cake. It was so pretty and tasted as good as it looked. The funny thing is that I don’t remember much about my great nephew’s wedding cake. It was more traditional.
Oh, how interesting! Yes, my tastes have changed since our wedding in 1980! I haven’t been to a wedding for several years, but we are attending two later this spring. I know already they will be very different. The brides and the situations are nothing alike. Thanks for playing along!
What a fun quiz! I got Bren and Rob. I haven’t read their story yet but I may just have to move it up my list.
I’m not sure if it’s fair to my other book children to admit it, but Bren and Rob are close to the top of my favorites list! Thanks for playing along.
I loved the quiz. How clever!
fun quiz! I got Joanna and grady! Love to win a e-book!
Thanks! It was fun to create. Thanks for playing along!
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing along.
That was fun. Adriana + Myles for me.
My result was Evelyn and Ben. Ironically I answered some of the questions differently than what I had at my own wedding only a few years ago!
Nancy K. We got married the next Saturday, June 16. My last day teaching was June 8. Happy early anniversary to you also. Time flies with commitments of home, work, and family. Too many more.
Nancy K. That is why I said I blended my traditional 1973 church with my son’s small family wedding held on the shores of Lake Michigan June 11, 2010 and my oldest son’s fall church wedding October 2000, with my youngest son’s best friend vineyard fall wedding. Plus the choices given. Definitely a fun activity.
I got Alaina and Cameron a couple of questions I said what I would like (cos someone has short hair so can’t have an updo but I do like a veil.)
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing along.
Joanna and Grady. Now I need to read their story!
I got Joanna and Grady! Fun quiz. Thanks.
That’s a lot of weddings. LOL
Thanks for the fun quiz! It was Joanna and Grady for me.
Hi Valerie,
Fun quiz,I got Linnea and Logan
It is so nice to read your blog posts.
I think our tastes change a bit, even in a few years! Thanks for playing along.
It was meant to be fun, not definitive :) Thanks for playing along.
Joanna and Grady would love to hang out with you for a couple of hours! Thanks for playing along.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing along.
Thankfully some of them fell into the gaps between books in a series and didn’t take place on the page!
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing along.
I think you’re the first to get them! Thanks for playing along.
I got Eden and Jacob. That was a fun quiz!
She totally made me think of my mother…ugh, lol!!
Adriana & Myles :)
Yay! I’m glad someone got them. Thanks for playing along!
You’re in good company! Thanks for playing along!
Alaina & Cameron for me! What a fun quiz!
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing along.
wow, I am confused already and I’m not trying to write the books. I love books that showcase previous characters and also let us catch up on the earlier characters lives.
Never read any of the books yet but I appreciate your creativity.
This was fun, it was Evelyn and Ben for me.
Oops! I wasn’t trying to confuse anyone! Within the stories themselves, I don’t think it’s confusing. I hope not, anyway! Thanks for playing along.
Sounds like it is time to get started! Two of my books are free :) Thanks for playing along.
Yay for Evelyn and Ben! Thanks for playing along.
What a cool quiz. A couple of questions I wanted to choose more than one answer. I got Joanna and Grady.
I’m glad I got your newsletter and was redirected here (I’ve been missing a lot of this because of how busy work is — thank God for work, though, because a while back I was unemployed). I have too many books to catch up with.
The wedding quiz is really fun (I might need to take it again because I’m not really partial to some of the choices I’ve made and I’d love to see how different it will turn out if I change some of my choices).
I also feel like now I have to finish Other than a Halo–first couple I got from the quiz (I’ve started, but haven’t had much time for reading either in the past few months–my son is growing up and demanding more time on top of work being very much more demanding).
Joanna & Grady for me. I don’t need to be entered in the drawing as I have all of your books but I had fun taking the quiz.
Fun quiz I got Alaina and Cameron .
A lot of fun. I got Joanna and Grady.
I got Adriana + Myles. I have the book but I haven’t had a chance to read it yet! I look forward to it though! However, if it’s any book, then I haven’t read your Arcadia valley series yet, so I’d love to have the first one of those! Thanks so much! And this was a fun quiz, I’m actually planning a wedding so it was fun to see the different ideas.
The fun is, you can take it again with different answers! Thanks for playing along.
Thanks for coming by, Priscila! I’m sorry you’re so busy, but yes, work is a blessing. Take care, and thanks for playing along.
Thanks so much, Jenelle! You’re entered in the Birthday Bash, though! Thanks for playing along.
Yay for Alaina and Cameron! Thanks for playing along.
Congrats on your upcoming wedding, Toni! Thanks for playing along.
Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for playing along!
I got Joanna & Grady.
That was a cute, fun quiz!!!
Thanks.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing along.
What a great quiz! I’ve got Alaina and Cameron! Haven’t had a chance to read their story yet ? Blessings!
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing along.
Fun! I got Joanna & Grady :)
Yay! thanks for playing along.
How creative! Enjoyed the quiz. I got Eden & Jacob.
Clever idea for hooking someone up with Mr. Right Book when they might be a little confused about which way to go. Loved this!
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing along.
Haha, I didn’t even think of it as Mr. Right Book! Thanks for playing along.
Joanna & Grady for me . No surprise I loved the book
I’m so glad to hear that! Thanks for playing along.
I got the same one– and also haven’t read that one yet! I’m planning to read all of the Arcadia Valley books in order so I haven’t gotten there yet.
