Here’s the part where I fill some space so you can’t glance down to see the answers. And naturally, I’ll do it by telling you about some romance novels. My latest, Her Secret Child, features a shy librarian who’s snowed in with a rugged mercenary-turned-missionary… and a bunch of cute puppies. I was thrilled to learn that His Secret Child hit the Publisher’s Weekly bestseller list at number 20. I think that snowy cover–and the fact that the book came out during a huge snowstorm–had something to do with it!
If you’re in the mood for free romance, I definitely have some deals for you. You can sign up for my newsletter to get the short story that kicks off the Sacred Bond series. Or, you can read the first book in the series for free… or the first book in the spinoff series for free. Take your choice, and happy Valentines’ Day!
Answers:
1: c
2: b
3: a

Question 4 surprised me the most. However it makes sense with a teacher having so many little ones and the other choices are single relationships. I should not have been surprised. Good quiz . And the book will be on my Valentine’s list today ?
Colleen says
#4 Teachers. I didn’t think of the little adorable kids but more of the middle n high school kids who does really think of teachers in that term. That’s I definite surprise to me.
Jennifer Tipton says
1c The Chauncer’s Parliament Fowls surprised me the most. I’d thought it was Rome and Juliet. I love these little fact / quiz games. Thanks, Jenny
Love your cover!

Yay for teachers! I always love trivia, Lee. Great quiz! Happy Valentine’s Day!
Bhriv says
I guess teachers was a little surprising…but that it wasn’t until 1913 was more to me…that’s just a little over one hundred years of an extra Love day ;) Fun Quiz!
Pete Olson says
#1. I’m not a big reader of classic English fiction. I know big surprise from a guy, right?
BTW I just finished the Sacred Bond series. My wife and I read them together. Great work. We enjoyed them immensely.
Caroline says
What a fun quiz! I think #1 surprised me the most, because I associate Chaucer with knights and pilgrims.
D K Stevens says
#5 Although the old Valentine’s are lovely!
I knew the answer to #1.. just read it in a book chat :)
Happy Valentines Day!
Margaret Nelson says
I was pretty sure #4 was either mothers or teachers, so the only one I really got wrong was #1. I’ve never read the Chaucer, and it’s been too long since I read the others to remember :-)
Sally Shupe says
It would have to be number 1). But then I couldn’t remember much about the books selected. I didn’t pick Chaucer since I’d read him in college and didn’t think it fit lol. May have to go back and read this one.
Connie Brown says
Question #1 surprised me a little. It was a process of elimination for that one. Having been a teacher I knew that teachers get lots of valentines. I was surprised that I got all five of them right.
dlw says
I was surprised that teachers got the most Valentine’s, but it makes sense, with all the kids in the class. I discovered the bond brothers books and have read a few out of order. I didn’t realize I was reading the middle of a series at first :-). I really enjoyed the ones I’ve read and at some point will try to get the rest. God bless!
Lisl says
For me it was definitely number 4: teachers. I was sure it would be either girlfriends or wives.
I grew up in South Africa, where we celebrate Valentine’s Day but never on the scale that the US does. This week I had to get Valentine cards for each student in my 3 year old’s classroom. It’s a new thing to me but I really like it, since every child and teacher get something special and nobody feels left out.
Andrea Cox says
I can’t believe I got all the answers right! Even the first one, which was a complete guess. Thanks for the fun quiz!

Wow, we have got a lot of smart readers on InspyRomance! If someone goes back to read Chaucer’s PARLIAMENT OF FOWLES because of this post, the teacher in me will be very happy!
Sarah Woller says
#1 surprised me the most. I thought it was Romeo and Juliet. Chaucer is linked more to knights in my book ;)
Autumn Macarthur says
What surprised me the most was getting all five right! Okay, a couple I did guess. ;)
Congratulations on His Secret Child hitting the Publisher’s Weekly list so high!
Ralph Kercheval says
Most surprising was teachers until I realized every kiddo brings valentines to everyone in the class.
Picked red roses but I know someone that got pink roses recently!!!
pattymh2000Patty says
Like most #4 surprised me, but it guess unless you are a teacher or have little kids it just doesn’t cross your mind when thinking about valentines!
Aerykah says
Well, that was fun! ;) #5 was the only one that really surprised me. It was also the only one that I got wrong (because I just guessed at the answer).
Sylvia M. says
I did not do very well on this quiz! :) The one that surprised me most was that teachers get the most valentines. I remember exchanging valentines as a student with my little classmates and I guess a larger one was always given to my teacher now that I think about it.

I only got one wrong on this quiz (#1)…that’s a surprise in itself! I just had a feeling it wasn’t the obvious answers…lol!
The one that stood out to me was #5: Hallmark putting out it’s first Valentine in 1913, I didn’t realize it’s been that long! Such a fun quiz, Lee, thanks for sharing :-)
purplemeri65 says
I guess the Chaucer’s Parliament of Fowls is the one I did not know. I have not ever read this so I couldn’t even guess. I guessed the others. I picked 1913 because it was the oldest date. It was a good quiz and I do love taking them. thanks for sharing Hope you have a fun Valentine’s Day.
Melissa Henderson says
I was most surprised by #5 and the year Hallmark produced it’s first Valentine. I have never really thought about that. It just seems that Hallmark has been around forever. haha! Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! :-)
Lee Tobin McClain says
I love our InspyRomance readers! I think I’m going to do more quizzes–I had fun researching and writing this one, and I’m so glad you had fun taking it! And ha, Ralph K.—my pink roses are GORGEOUS!
Shelia Hall says
I was surprised by the answer to #1.
Lientjie Human says
# 4 I went for Girlfriends, but I can understand why Teachers would get the most.
Carrie says
I got them all right – yay me! lol. I will say that, as a teacher, #4 did not surprise me at all haha!! My first year – my entire desk was literally COVERED with valentines and gifts, etc. #1 was perhaps most surprising to me. Chaucer’s is the only one of the 4 I haven’t read so I picked it as my answer by process of elimination lol. But I wouldn’t have guessed by the title that it would have been correct.
Beth Schwarzlose (@betherin02) says
I’m so surprised the most popular isn’t really roses! Fun quiz, Lee! Hope your day is filled with the ones you love most. Blessings to you!
Susan Johnson says
Number 1 surprised me the most.
Jennifer Craig says

I was surprised to learn that Hallmark has been around for over 100 years.
