Hi!! Lindi here!
I live in Georgia, about 45 miles northwest of Atlanta.
And I gotta say, it’s been cold here.
Now, I know it’s not cold like some of you are used to, but for us in the south, 23 is cold. We’ve had some snow flurries, which were fun to watch. Snow flurries don’t happen often here. While some of you drive everywhere in the snow, we just don’t do that well here in the ATL.
So I thought we might warm things up a bit–and learn a little bit about each other! (You know, since I’m telling my deep dark secrets about what a wimp I am in the cold weather.)
Ah, is it summer? Who wants to jump in the pool and go for a swim?
Or how about this?
Very beachy.
Are you warm yet?
Not yet?
Hmmmm….
How about now?
My favorite place to read is on the beach. I love sitting in a chair, in the sand, waves at my feet, good book in my hands. I can almost picture and feel it as I type. But sitting here in three layers of clothing and thick socks on my feet in addition to my slippers, all while the wind is blowing our snow flurries all around outside are somehow hindering my summer experience. (But then the heat kicks in and I’m momentarily transported-but only momentarily!) :)
So, what about you? What is your favorite summer spot and where is your favorite place to read?
Oh and I almost forgot–are you warm yet?

I can relate, Lindi. I’m in Charlotte, NC and it’s been in the 20’s for the last few days. Thankfully, by the weekend we’ll be close to 70 degrees. Aside from the beach, my favorite place to read is on our back patio, especially in the spring.

I love to read any place any time. My back deck, while watching the grandchildren play is a favorite. I live in SW Michigan and with temps in the 20s we had a mild winter this year. The last few winters we had 10 feet of snow and many days with below zero temps.
Weather permitting, I love to read on our city bluff over looking Lake Michigan. City on a bench or rocking chair or swing, smelling the savory aroma of Silver Beach Pizza, hearing children play in the Whirlpool fountain, listening to the music from the restored carousal, while watching the sunset. On a cool clear evening one can see Chicago – 90 miles away. Our small town is the most romantic spot on Lake Michigan. Excellent place to read romance novels.

I am probably the only person in the world who is not a fan of the beach. Sorry. :( My only experiences with beaches involved a horrible sunburn, getting lost for hours and choking on sea water. I’ve never had a pleasant experience. Then when my husband went deep sea fishing and his boat was stranded in the ocean during a huge storm and the Mexican coast-guard said it was too dangerous to attempt a rescue, he vowed to never return to the ocean. Thank God for a shrimp boat coming in that was able to toss them a line and tow them in. But I digress.
I live in Arizona and we are experiencing 75 degree weather right now, so I don’t need to warm up…yet. Although I’m pretty sure March will hit us with a massive cold spell and I’ll be cursing cold weather again. (Yes, it sometimes gets very cold here.) My favorite, favorite summer place is in the White Mountains of Arizona. We go up there to cool off during the summer. I love to sit in my lounge chair, listening to the whisper of the pine trees, the smell of the camp fire, surrounded by nothing but nature. Probably not nearly as appealing to most people as the lull of sand and waves, but to me, it’s heaven on earth. :)

LeAnne I can relate, I am not fond of the ocean. When I was five my parents immigrated to the US from Germany. We crossed the ocean in an ship and I was sea sick for five days. Even though Lake Michigan is a lake, it is dangerous. We have rip tides and under toes. I am far skinned and prefer to enjoy the beauty of the lake from the shady bluff or from the car.

Here I am with cold feet, in Southeast Georgia! Our weather this winter can’t make up it’s mind. We have sunshine and the perfect breeze one day and ice on the cars the next. My poor kids don’t know how many layers to wear!
I live in Brunswick, GA, only moments from Saint Simons Island and Jekyll Island, and while I do love the beach, my favorite place to read is in a big, cozy chair with hot coffee in my hand. The truth is I am almost always found with a book in hand…even while cooking or cleaning or trying to fold laundry!
Thank you too all the Inspyromance authors for giving us so many great adventures!

We have snow, ice, freezing rain and rain going on now. I love to sit by the back door and read or sew and watch the birds at the feeders. I was able to do that yesterday! My favorite place to read is at the beach on the sand or a balcony .

Here in Montana, it has been sunny and warm(40’s and maybe reach 50 today). I love to read while camping at my favorite spot, Georgetown Lake. It is peaceful and beautiful. We usually share the campground with a couple of moose.

Here in southeastern British Columbia, Canada, the rain has melted all our snow away over the past week, and temperatures have hovered not far above freezing. I’m not a lover of heat, honestly. My favorite summertime place to read is in my folding chair when we’re camped beside a mountain stream.

I’m from Oregon and right now we go from sun to rain in seconds. My favorite place to read during the summer is on my back desk under the awning. I sit with my coffee and book, listening to our pond waterfall bubble and hearing the birds, and neighbor children playing. Many times I can get so lost in my books that I don’t even know the time has passed. It’s very calming!
Linda says
I love to read anywhere, ideal [place would be anywhere witha a breeze and a shade in a comfortable chair.
Merrillee Whren says
Lindi, I’m with you on reading while sitting in a beach chair with waves flowing over my feet. When we lived in FL, I didn’t do that nearly enough even though the beach was only 1/2 mile away. Now that I’m in AZ, I like to sit out on my back patio and look at the mountains.
Sally Shupe says
I love the snow and am not ready for the beach weather yet! I love to read wrapped up in a blanket in front of the window watching it snow and the snow pile up. We got a foot of snow yesterday, so I was able to do just that! When I read on the beach, I fall asleep. Something about the waves, the breeze, the sun, I am out lol.
Lindi P says
Jill–I love spring and patios as well. :)
Lindi P says
Oh—they all sound like amazing places to read! I can feel the breezes–see Chicago-thank you for a beautiful picture!
Lindi P says
If I had your experiences, I’m sure I wouldn’t be a fan of the beach as well. I have only been to the Phoenix airport–I would love to visit your state sometime.
Lindi P says
Misty–I have been known to cook with a book in my hand as well. And I agree about the whiplash weather–we have it here as well.!
Lindi P says
dlw—watching the birds is amazing–so many cool creatures God has made!
Lindi P says
Beth–amazing weather for Montana in the winter! Reading by the lake is very nice as well!
Lindi P says
Valerie—Streams and mountains–sounds like a heavenly place to read!
Lindi P says
Marylin–I have a pond too! It’s cool sitting in a chair by it reading. I’m a fan. :)
Lindi P says
Linda–and there’s that! Reading anywhere is awesome. :)
Lindi P says
Merrillee—I can’t imagine living 1/2 mile from the beach. Sounds fabulous! Of course I love the mountains, too, so you are in a great place now as well.
Lindi P says
Sally—I like the snow for a very short time–and not a lot of it! Whimpy confession again! The waves, breeze and sun is a good way to take a nap.

I love the cold weather, and wish it would snow once in a while. My favorite places are up in the mountains in the trees by a lake. I would love to move out of Southern California and I envy you living in Atlanta I’ve been there twice and it was so beautiful with all the trees.
Sally Bradley says
I will read anywhere! But if I could get to a beach… yeah, that’d be a great place to read. Our summers here in Kansas are so hot and humid that I don’t like to go outside too much unless it’s early or late in the day. So I like sitting inside, in the AC, and reading away. :)
Hope you enjoyed that snow! We’ve hardly gotten any here either. And now I’m wondering if maybe I’m really living near Atlanta and don’t know it????

I’m in southern Illinois and I think the worst part about winter here is the weather rollercoaster. It might be 50-60 degrees one day and 20-30 the next. I think it just makes it feel colder and usually does a number on my sinuses as well. My kids were outside playing in tshirts and jeans one afternoon and the next morning we got 2 inches of snow, it’s craziness. I’d like to move somewhere with less weather drama, just plain old boring 4 seasons. No indian summer or peeks of spring, I’d just like the seasons to line up and take their turn in an orderly fashion. Is this too much to ask? Does such a place exist? :D
Trixi says
Lindi, 23 IS cold….I don’t care what anyone says….lol!! Even though I grew up in Illinois, I’ve been on the Oregon coast too many years now & have acclimated to our climate. If it gets down in the 30’s and I can see my breath outside, it’s cold!! Thankfully we don’t get snow but rarely & then it usually melts within a few hours time. There’s been 2-3 years that school has been cancelled due to adverse weather. And if it does snow more than a dusting, it’s downright impossible to get around. I know my family in Illinois laugh at us out here, but they have the luxury of snowplows and rock salt on the roads and sidewalks….we don’t have that. Try driving in 2-3 feet of snow without clear roads! And it may have ice under the snow so it makes it even more dangerous! Nobody out here knows how to drive in it (I do) but it’s much safer in my house….lol!
My favorite place to read is just about anywhere, I always have a book in hand because you never know when or where you might be stuck somewhere. And reading out of date magazines in a Dr’s office is not my idea of fun….lol!

I agree with all that said they always have a book in hand. I don’t want to be with one just in case.. I like the beach and I love the mountains but my favorite place is my comfy chair with my glass of tea and beautiful music in the back ground. I live in the Atlanta area and our weather has been like a roller coaster the past 5 or 6 months. I too want normal seasons so one knows what to wear. Thanks to all the Inspy Romance authors for writing such enjoyable and inspiring books to read.

I’m from Texas where we don’t really experience the fours seasons. It is usually hot and humid most days with a sprinkle of cold air thrown in a week out of the year. In still waiting to see what snow looks like. I am an avid reader but my favorite place to read is in my hammock by our pond. It is so peaceful out there I tend to block out the world

I wish I could say I can read on a beach, mountain, by the river..but I get distracted :( and can only concentrate in my room.
