It’s a New Year!
I love changing the calendar over to a new year. There is something about starting a new year fresh and brimming with possibility! I just want to rub my hands together and say, “Okay, God. What do you have up your sleeve for 2018?”
Now, I get that this isn’t always how we feel, especially when we’ve had a tough year and it doesn’t FEEL like any hope is on the horizon.
And really, there is nothing magical about turning the page from December to January.
Still, it’s a great time to both reflect and to look to the future, because whether it feels like it or not, God is still on his throne. He’s still moving and he still loves each of us with a depth we can’t even imagine.
When I’m having a bad day, I love to remind myself…. “This is the day that the LORD HAS MADE. I’m going to rejoice and be glad in it, whether I feel like it or not.”
I think we can do the same for years. 2017 was and 2018 IS a year that God made and I WILL rejoice and be glad in it.
So in the spirit of looking forward with glad expectancy, I thought we could do a little of that today!
What are some books releasing in 2018 that you’re looking forward to? (Now is a GREAT time to preorder them!)
Have you set “reading” goals as some do for how many books you’d like to read in 2018? If so, share! (and Goodreads is a great place to keep track of them!)
Any other book-related goals you want to share?
Me? My book-goals are mostly writing related. I want to do a better job at planning out my writing time (tough as a mom of 4 kids!) and a better job of being intentional to set aside writing to be 100% present with my family during “family” time. Too many times I let them bleed over! (And this goes both way, they are learning to respect and honor my writing time too!)
Also, I want to be more intentional about seeking God’s will for the books I write. I do that now, but I just feel God calling me to press into him at a deeper level so that he can use my writing for his good purpose. So that is my heart for 2018.
