I’ve started a new book series, which means it’s time for a new fictional town! These are my favorite kinds of places to write and read about because my mind has the freedom to make them my own. The idea for this series came from the many trips with my daughter as we drove the same stretch of road each week on the way to volleyball practice. As I looked at the horizon of the Blue Ridge mountains week after week, it finally hit me that I needed to write a book series based there. After all, I grew up in the foothills, so this view is one I’m familiar with.
So let me introduce you…
Welcome to River Ridge, North Carolina, population 2,625. Nestled in the mountains of Western North Carolina, don’t blink, or you might miss the exit. Here, you’ll find beautiful hiking trails, mountain streams, and a family-owned Christmas tree farm visited by tourists from all around.
Step into a new world of heartwarming stories with the perfect blend of loveable characters and small-town charm. You will be transported to a place where family ties run deep, and faith is restored in the new series from K. Leah–It’s A Love Thing.
Nothing is more beautiful than scenic mountain views, especially in the fall when the leaves change colors. While this town may be fictional, you’ll definitely find some similarities to the places I know well.
I introduced you to my current work in progress in this post. The Thing About Mistletoe Kisses is almost finished, and I’m looking forward to releasing it this coming holiday season. Here’s one of my favorite teasers from the book.
Stella deserves someone who is fun and outgoing like her. She deserves someone who will love her back. I’m not that person. I vowed a long time ago that I’d never open up my heart again. It hurts too much when someone breaks it. And I don’t think I can handle another heartbreak in this lifetime.
It’s not worth it.
But would Stella be worth it?
Right now, I have three books planned for this series (and not necessarily in this order), but that’s not to say I won’t add more books as I continue writing.
The Thing About Mistletoe Kisses (releasing this winter)
Barrett “Rett” Edwards and Stella Spake
- jilted groom
- grumpy/sunshine
- military veteran
- childhood crush
- Christmas themes
The Thing About Falling in Love (Coming Soon!)
Brynn Edwards (Rett’s sister) and Turner McBride
- destined to be together
- love at first sight
- millionaire
- workplace romance
The Thing about Blind Dates
- opposites attract
- blind date
- nobody thinks it will work

Hi from SW Michigan. River Ridge reminds me of our May 2015 trip through the Blue Ridge Mountains. Beautiful country. I enjoy reading Christmas stories and your upcoming holiday book The Thing about Mistletoe Kisses sounds intriguing. Happy Writing and Best wishes.

I love small town stories. I’ve read several based in this area, while I drove through once as a small child, I would love to go back and visit some day. Sounds like a great series.
