Hello January!! Lindi here.
So, don’t judge but I JUST got my Christmas decorations down over the weekend. It was a team effort, as hubby brought up all the boxes, I filled them, then he put them away–into the abyss–for another year. It was fun having them up so long this time. We put them up the week before Thanksgiving! I don’t this house has been decorated that long ever!
Now it’s a new year–I’m already another year older–January birthday girl here. (I DO love birthdays!) 2016 has landed. New projects are being talked about, schedules are being made, calendars all over are starting to fill up. Everything just seems more exciting at the beginning of the year.
I know some of the other gals here did a Word of the Year post—fun!
For my WOTY–it came about of course in a God way. I have really started to take a look at what I’m eating. I’ve found this amazing website, Oh She Glows. I’m not going Vegan, but Angela has some amazing recipes on her website. Most of them are gluten-free and sugar-free. Anyway, I bought the cookbook and it’s been sitting on my counter since the week after Thanksgiving. I’ve been making smoothies every morning and hubby and I have tried out several recipes. I say all this to tell you I thought my word was Glow.
THEN–I went to a Christmas event at our church. Our women’s ministry is called The Grove. We had our December meeting at the Cobb Energy Center and I knew it would be an amazing night. Of course it was. Chris Tomlin led Christmas/worship songs and several amazing women stood and told their stories of how God had worked in their life. A car was given to a woman who has touched my life in a way I can’t describe. All in all God moved that night in so many ways. Our mission statement of sorts is:
I will be ROOTED in Jesus and His word.
Choose to FLOURISH where I’m planted.
Walk in FREEDOM and truly live.
Offer my life as SHADE to people in my path.
After that night, and with confirmation, I chose my word.
I had these cool buttons made.
The scripture that goes along with my WOTY is:
Psalm 92:12-13
The righteous will flourish like a palm tree.
They will grow tall like a cedar in Lebanon.
Planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the
courts of our God.
In my December post I had asked everyone to think on their WOTY. I’d love to hear yours. And if you aren’t part of my Facebook reader’s group, I would love to have you join us. We have a WOTY group. We are “meeting” once a month to see how God is moving in our lives. Click here to join.
Okay–let’s hear your WOTY!!

Happy Birthday, Lindi! Flourish is a great word, it reminds me of spring. A time I look forward to during the cold winter days.
Next Monday, I’ll share my word in my first post. :)
Lindi Peterson says
Hi Jill—Looking forward to hearing your Word–and yay for your first Inspy post!!
Valerie Comer says
Flourish… I like that. It gives a beautiful image with deep meaning. Thanks for sharing! (I’m not a WOTY gal, so have nothing to add.)

I revealed my word before — consistent — but lately GRACE has been popping up everywhere. I think I might have two this year (more about that in my post on Saturday).
Lee Tobin McClain says
I love your word! I don’t think I can stick with one word for the whole year, but if I did… the word that came to my mind when our pastor was discussing WOTY was “consolidate.” Which is not very cool at all, but it does speak to what I need to do this year, both professionally and personally.

A wonderful word… flourish! I love that word. I want to flourish this year. I never choose a word for the year, just wait and see what God sends me. Thank you for sharing your message today. :-)

Lee—one year my word slow—I needed to slow down–in so many ways-so I’m all in with your word consolidate.
Lindi Peterson says
Hi mimi–thank you! Flourish is an awesome word–thriving–it makes me think of being the best God wants us to be all the days. If you want a Flourish button I’d be glad to send you one. Find me on FB—and we’ll message so I can get your address. Thanks again!
Lindi Peterson says
Hi Nancy—I love your word–Blessings is a great word—looking for the blessings He’s already given and looking forward to new blessings. I’ll see you in the Reader’s group. :) It will be later tonight when I get home–:) Thank you!!

Wonderful word, Lindi! I have a wonderful vision of your life growing like a tree by a steam that never runs dry. Those buttons are cool too! God’s word for me this year is surrender. LOL, alreday being tested on that one!
Lindi Peterson says
Autumn—Thank you for that visual. I’ll hold on to that. Your word is awesome. I have a book called Absolute Surrender by Andrew Murray. I can’t explain how seeing God through Andrew Murray’s books has changed my life. I recommend his books to everyone. :)
Sally Shupe says
Love your word, flourish! My word is: uncommon hope: Uncommon hope, as in the uncommon hope we have in Jesus when He died on the cross. Uncommon hope that He loves us. John 14:21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.” Uncommon hope that we have eternal life in Him. John 10:26-28 26″But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep. 27″My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.… Uncommon hope that God is able to do exceeding, abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).
Geared toward my writing, uncommon hope that God is doing amazing things. He is the coordinator and He is leading. I am praying for a joy-filled year full of unexpected amazing God-given things exceeding, abundantly above all that I can ask or think. Don’t limit God and what He can do. My motto for the year!
Lindi Peterson says
Sally–love those verses and your “word phrase.” And what a great motto to follow. :) Thanks for sharing your verses and word.
Narelle Atkins says
Lindi, lovely post :) My WOTY is balance, and seeking to find balance in all aspects of my life.

I know lots of people chose a word of the year, it’s something I just learned about as a matter of fact! It’s not my thing since I don’t do resolutions or yearly goals. However, God had other plans (doesn’t He always, lol). A few days before the New Year I heard a word whispered in my ear “Faith”. I tried to shake it off or ignore it, but I couldn’t. It kept coming up and tugged at my heart. It was then that I had decided God had chosen a word for me when I hadn’t asked! Once I made peace with it, it began to settle in my heart. I don’t know how or where God will use it in my life, so I’m just taking it a day at a time knowing He will reveal it on a need-to-know basis :-)
