My children and I love “Would You Rather” quizzes. We try our best to throw dilemmas at each other where you’re only allowed one choice. Each option is either wonderful but with a big downside, or else both options have major drawbacks.
So, I thought it would be fun to share a bookish “would you rather” poll with you. Click below to take part. The next question will load ten seconds after you’ve voted.
Here are the questions in full. If you can in the comments, I’d love to know what you picked, and why!
I’ll share my own choices in the comments, too.

Credit to the Hidden in the Stacks and Epic Reads blogs and Buzzfeed for inspiring these questions.
I have already hated a book almost every other blogger seemed to love.
I enjoyed this post thanks for the fun but really hard questions.
Hi Milla! Thanks for the fun bookish poll. My grandchildren love Would YOU rather…. I chuckled at #9. Book Club Wendy – if I love a book, she hates it. WHY? She prefers reading non-fiction, while I am more adventuresome and read a variety of fiction genre. Best wishes. Enjoy your week.
That was fun and I discovered that most of the time I am in the minority -what does that say about me? Ha ha!
Thanks, Jenny! I, too, have read books I don’t understand the hype over, and loved books others seem to hate.
Laughing at Book Club Wendy! My best friend hates my favourite book and, indeed, the whole genre. Thankfully, we have so much more else in common!
Ha ha, that shows you march to your own drum. Thanks for your comment!
I forgot to include my answers…
1. I would rather finish all the books I own before buying any new ones. It would be a great way of getting my TBR pile under control because right now I just keeping adding more and more to it!
2. I would rather have my favourite character exist and find them annoying. I would be miserable if I lived in their world and they couldn’t stand me, because I’d want to be friends.
3. I seem more often to hate a book everyone loves, so I’ll go with that.
4. This was a tough choice for me. I couldn’t make up my mind but finally said I’d rather have the money. Perhaps I could listen to audiobooks instead.
5. I found this one really tough as well. I decided I’d rather read the last half, because perhaps I could guess what was in the beginning.
6. There’s not much margin between my favourite genre and my second favourite, so I could sacrifice my favourite one.
7. Easiest one for me, because I read spoilers by choice anyway!
8. I choose the library. Because there’s always a chance I could learn the language and read the books.
9. My best friend doesn’t like my favourite book, or my favourite genre. Thankfully, there’s a lot more we have in common!
I laughed at not having money to buy books. I spend very little on books but use library and buy used cookbooks very inexpensive.
What a fun post! My 7 year old loves thinking up these sort of quizzes although his tend to involve eating something gross rather than reading.
I agree with a lot of your answers – I couldn’t give up reading my favourite genre though – but I might try and cheat and broaden it a little, so ‘romance’ would get me historical romance, romantic suspense and romantic comedy too 😂
Yes, there are thankfully many good ways of getting books at no or low cost lately.
Ha ha, my seven-year-old is also preoccupied with disgusting foods. Thanks for your comment! And, yes, I could totally find ways of cheating when it comes to genre. :-D

Thanks for your answers, Kendra! I hear you about having an out of control to-be-read pile!
Ha ha, you know how to spot a loophole! I like it! Thanks for your comment. :-)
We love doing all different ones.
I agree about the reading other genres. My favourite changes it has this year. To read only one genre would drive me mad
Ha ha — that was fun! I enjoy those Would You Rather questions, too!
That was fun!! I have read a book that a lot of people loved, but I did NOT! And, had to force myself to finish it!
welcome today. these are some interesting questions. our family used to always play the game “what If” both my husband and son were history buffs. they both became civil war reenactors and now are ww2 reenactors. they started when Richard was 13 and he is now 37. long history of reenacting for both of them.
interesting questions
Thank you so much for sharing. It was fun. God bless you.
Thanks for your comment, Amy!
Thanks, Meghann! My children love coming up with them.
Thanks, Trudy! It’s been a long time since I forced myself to finish a book. Life’s too short and there are too many good books. :-)
Wow, I’ve always thought reenacting was fun since we did a bit of it in school. We spent a day as “Victorian” children and enjoyed it so much.
Thanks, bn!
I’m glad you enjoyed it, Debra! Thanks for paying.
Same here, Jenny!

Thanks for your response Kim! Your reasoning matches mine on many of those questions!
